Community Spaces Open Grants Programme

Community Spaces is a £50 million open grants programme that is managed by Groundwork UK’s Open Grants Department. The programme helps community groups in England create or improve green, open spaces to enhance people’s quality of life. Community Spaces is funded by the Big Lottery Fund. Grants start at £10,000. The BIG Lottery’s Awards for All programme looks to fund projects which address the issues, needs and aspirations of local communities and people. It will fund a wide range of community projects aimed at developing skills, improving health, revitalising the local environment and enabling people to become more active citizens. Reaching Communities

The BIG Lottery’s Reaching Communities has two strands:
  •  Revenue and small capital – funding from £10,000 to £500,000 for revenue projects and/or smaller capital projects up to £50,000

BIG Assist 


BIG Assist is delivered under contract to the Big Lottery Fund by the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO). Big Assist is a programme for infrastructure organisations in the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector. The programme aims to support infrastructure organisations based in England, to be more efficient, effective, sustainable and better able to adapt to the current and future operating environment. Santander Foundation

The Santander Foundation now has two grants programmes to help disadvantaged people in the UK. Santander Community Plus provides grants of up to £5,000. Mars in the Community


The Mars in the Community programme supports projects and activities which promote the development of cohesive, healthy and sustainable communities.  The programme is open to local charities, community groups and schools within a 10 mile radius of the Slough site.
Decisions are made four times a year and typically grants do not exceed £2,000.  Applications can be made through the Mars in the Community Website www.marsinthecommunity.co.uk

The Co-operative Community Fund Grants

Grants, between £100 and £2,000 are available to community, voluntary, or self-help groups to run projects that carry out positive work in the community
